The Principal Developer leading Partner Ecosystem Solutions will report to the VP of Engineering and play a pivotal role in shaping 1Password’s technical integration strategy with the broader security ecosystem. This leader will evaluate and define integration paths with key partners, design reference architectures, and prototype next-generation solutions that extend 1Password’s platform capabilities into emerging domains such as agentic AI architectures, emerging communication protocols (e.g., MCP, A2A, ACP, et al.), and browser/runtime-based security controls.
This is a highly technical role that sits at the intersection of partner and 1Password solutions, architectural decision making, and R&D advancements. This role will closely collaborate with Engineering, Security, Product, Business Development, and the Go To Market teams to identify high-impact integration opportunities, validate technical feasibility, and build partner-ready pre-production proof of concepts that demonstrate differentiated value. The outcome of this role is to ensure 1Password leads the evolving identity and security ecosystem, proactively shaping today and tomorrow. .
What You Can Expect:
Integration strategy: Define and prioritize integration paths with strategic partners across the identity, security, and developer ecosystem (e.g., Identity Providers, Identity Governance & Administration, SIEM/SOAR, AI toolchains, cloud providers, et al.).
Prototype (POC) / pre-production development: Rapidly design and prototype advanced integrations such as MCP server connectors, ephemeral credential brokers, and agentic AI security workflows. Demonstrate end-to-end feasibility and serve as a technical proof point for productization.
Reference architectures: Develop reusable reference architectures and integration blueprints (e.g., SAML/OIDC flows, SCIM provisioning, OAuth2 JIT token issuance, agent-to-vault credential brokering). Ensure these patterns are secure, scalable, and align with 1Password’s identity security principles.
Cross-Functional collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Security, Product, and Business Development teams to translate integration opportunities into impactful product outcomes. Provide technical credibility in partner conversations.
Innovation leadership: Push the envelope, expanding how 1Password further delivers differentiated industry leading value to the security ecosystem. Explore novel use cases around PAM-in-the-browser, confidential computing for session management, and AI-driven security automation.
Technical evangelism: Represent 1Password’s integration vision in technical forums, with partners, and at industry events. Build trust with external architects and engineering leaders by engaging at a deep technical level.
Scalability and security: Ensure all integrations meet high standards for security, performance, and maintainability. Act as a subject matter expert on integration security models, including token management, encryption, and identity lifecycle management.
What We’re Looking For:
10+ years of experience in software engineering or solutions architecture, with at least 5 years designing and implementing complex integrations in SaaS, identity, or cybersecurity.
Deep technical knowledge of identity and access management standards and protocols (e.g., SAML, OIDC, SCIM, OAuth2, JWT, session termination patterns).
Hands-on experience building integrations with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and/or security tools (e.g., SIEM, SOAR, IdPs).
Demonstrated ability to prototype and deliver working software in languages commonly used for integration (e.g., Go, Python, TypeScript).
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and GTM teams to translate partner opportunities into technical outcomes.
Strong communication skills with the ability to represent technical strategy to executives, partners, and customers.
Bonus Points For:
Familiarity with confidential computing, secure enclave design, browser extension/runtime modification, and AI agent architectures a strong plus.
