Join a fast-growing tech-enabled lender changing the real estate investing industry!

At Backflip, we're a venture-backed FinTech committed to becoming the leader in residential real estate investment financing. Our vision is to increase people’s love for their communities by investing in housing and improving the physical world. To do that, we need people who are inspired to modernize residential real estate investing by connecting entrepreneurs with sophisticated capital. Backflip’s capital product menu primarily consists of fix and flip financing (RTL), and we are actively expanding into rental loans (DSCR), business-purpose HELOC, and related products.

We’re seeking a proven sales leader with deep lending and real estate investment expertise to own Backflip’s go-to-market strategy and execution. As Head of Sales, you’ll be responsible for driving profitable and sustainable origination volume, building scalable sales processes, and leading the team that connects our capital products to real estate investors nationwide. This leader will be pivotal in establishing and scaling our new Austin-based sales hub, creating a center of excellence for our go-to-market efforts.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer, and is a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a 45 person team with a great culture. Backflip is backed by best-in-class venture capital firms (Series A), and has approximately ~$200M of institutional capital under management to anchor our lending capabilities, as well as an in-house loan servicer.

What You’ll Do:

  • Translate the company’s strategic vision into a clear, actionable sales roadmap and go-to-market strategy.

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth; Recruit and develop top-tier sales talent.

  • Play a key role in building and scaling our new Austin sales office, fostering a high-energy, collaborative, and performance-driven environment.

  • Implement and enforce consistent processes, leveraging CRM systems for pipeline management, forecasting, and accountability.

  • Establish effective departmental KPIs and iterate on playbooks to optimize funnel conversion for both inbound and outbound sales motions.

  • Instill a culture of credit discipline, ensuring a focus on high-quality borrowers and long-term loan performance.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Loan Operations, Product, and Capital Markets to ensure a seamless borrower experience.

  • Partner with the Backflip Leadership Team, providing market-driven insights into competitive positioning, pricing, and product-market fit.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in loan sales, with at least 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role (Head of Sales, Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Director of Sales, VP of Sales, Head of Mortgage Sales, Head of Lending, Head of Loan Originations, etc.).

  • Direct experience in mortgage lending products is required; business purpose lending is preferred (Fix-and-Flip Loans, DSCR Loans, Construction Loans, Bridge Loans, etc.).

  • Exposure to lean, fast-paced startups in the property technology (PropTech), financial technology (FinTech), or related industries a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance origination targets with a disciplined approach to credit quality and risk management.

  • Proven success building, leading, and scaling inbound and outbound sales teams across multiple distribution channels; Experience managing an in-office sales team is highly desirable.

  • Track record of technology-enabled process orientation and data-driven sales frameworks.

  • An existing network within the real estate lending, investment, and broker communities.

This candidate will champion Backflip’s culture & Core Values:
