Backflip is a venture-backed FinTech company that empowers anyone to improve their life and their neighborhood through real estate investing. To do that, we need people who are inspired to reimagine and rebuild an outdated and unbalanced system; to support and celebrate America’s local entrepreneurs.

The Senior Asset Resolution Specialist will monitor non-performing loan portfolios, address delinquencies, and support borrower relationships to ensure successful outcomes. This individual will work in close collaboration with the Head of Member Solutions & Asset Management, internal and external stakeholders, and Backflip’s borrowers. The role requires strong financial acumen, clear communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This position is remote (U.S.) and a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor (~50 person team) working directly with senior leaders in a well-capitalized, Series A startup with a great culture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of non-performing loans, including servicing, default workout solutions, and loan liquidations

  • Serve as a point of contact for loans in foreclosure, probate, or bankruptcy.

  • Assist in collection activities and proactively manage delinquencies through borrower engagement

  • Review borrower financial and cash flow statements; assist in developing action plans to remedy delinquencies

  • Support the negotiation and implementation of loan restructuring activities

  • Interpret and analyze financial statements to assess repayment ability of borrowers

  • Assist in identifying trends and key risk factors impacting portfolio performance

  • Collaborate with credit and lending teams to develop exit strategies for watchlist loans

  • Support preparation of watchlist reports and portfolio reviews for senior leadership

  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, REO service providers, and other third parties to support recovery efforts

  • Leverage technology to automate tasks and borrower outreach

  • Communicate learnings to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in finance, lending, or real estate credit; prior experience as an Asset Resolution Specialist, Asset Management Analyst, Default Prevention Specialist, Loss Mitigation Analyst, Foreclosure Specialist, REO Specialist, or a similar position is a plus.

  • Experience, knowledge of, or exposure to residential real estate lending, fix-and-flip lending, property technology (PropTech), financial technology (FinTech), or related industries.

  • Understanding of real estate lending, loan servicing, and/or financial restructuring.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information into concise recommendations.

  • Proven success collaborating cross-functionally, building relationships, and working seamlessly in a remote work environment, ideally a startup.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and Word.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Proactively managing non-performing loans to maximize recovery and minimize losses.

  • Building and maintaining strong, solutions-oriented relationships with borrowers and stakeholders, while balancing Backflip’s risk management objectives.
