Customers including Snowflake, Canva, and HPE rely on Chainguard to build securely with open source software across the organization.

About Us

We live and breathe our company values:

We are customer obsessed - Our true advantage is the strength of our relationships with customers through collaboration, empathy, and responsiveness. We establish trust as we educate, advocate, and listen to their needs. Our focus is on delivering solutions to our customers that create value and make their lives better.

We have a bias for intentional action - We’re a start-up and we need to move fast. However we need to move fast through intentional action to make sure we’re able to deliver quickly and efficiently on what is most impactful to our collective success. We prioritize, plan, try things, and fail fast. We think about how what we do impacts other teams and communicate our progress - owning the whole solution from start to finish. If we move fast enough, we can make two or three mistakes, learn, and correct them before competitors even make their first decision.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously (but we do serious work) - Though we are solving an important problem which takes focus and a degree of seriousness, we don’t take ourselves too seriously while we do. We laugh, have fun, embrace uniqueness, and enjoy the journey. Together.

We trust each other and assume good intentions - We hire great team members and trust them to do their work. We’re transparent with data, news, and decisions - positive or negative - to empower team members to make well informed decisions. Showing up for each other fully means we celebrate each other’s accomplishments as well as give compassionate direct feedback when needed. We always default to assuming good intentions.

The role, in a nutshell: Sr. Director of Product Marketing

This a senior leadership role: building and leading the Product Marketing function. Chainguard is innovative at its core - the product we’ve built is new and different - and articulating our value in a compelling and credible way is essential to our growth. The Product Marketing leader will be an expert in the craft of PMM, a team builder and cross functional leader, and a key enabler of our GTM team overall.

What you’ll do:

  • Build a product marketing function that sets and adheres to the highest quality standards and serves as a hub for linking go-to-market activities across sales, marketing and post-sales
  • Develop highly impactful positioning for Chainguard’s products in the market, and lead the team in building out core messaging that articulates Chainguard’s key value propositions.
  • Lead and manage key go-to-market initiatives to enter new markets and launch new innovative products.
  • Own pricing strategy to align with market demand and business objectives, and lead implementation of pricing and packaging changes.
  • Manage the business value assessment (BVA) process for prospects and customers in partnership with field teams and ensure BVAs have a positive impact on revenue growth and retention.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to influence and lead communication around product vision and strategy.
  • Manage and mentor an existing team of Product Marketing Managers (PMMs), and expand the team by attracting and retaining top talent, in alignment with company growth.
  • Build a repeatable sales enablement engine in close partnership with the enablement team by aligning PMM activities with enablement needs and goals. Personally train sales on critical topics.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in product marketing leadership within a B2B technology environment, preferably with exposure to open source software, enterprise security, and technical audiences.
  • A track record of successfully leading go-to-market strategies, product launches, and market entry initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of pricing strategies and experience in managing pricing and packaging changes.
  • Strong leadership qualities with experience managing and growing a team of marketing professionals.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively across product management, engineering, marketing and sales teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment, maintaining a balance between strategic vision and hands-on execution.
