Open Source has taken over the world of software development; however, the largest trade-off still persists: security. Companies spend an enormous amount of time and resources patching and fortifying open source software in order to ship with confidence & compliance.

Founded by the industry's leading experts on open source software, security and cloud native development, Chainguard has built the largest library of open source software that is secure by default. Customers including Snowflake, Canva, and HPE rely on Chainguard to build securely with open source software across the organization.

Chainguard is the safe source for open source.

About Us

We live and breathe our company values:

We are customer obsessed - Our true advantage is the strength of our relationships with customers through collaboration, empathy, and responsiveness. We establish trust as we educate, advocate, and listen to their needs. Our focus is on delivering solutions to our customers that create value and make their lives better.

We have a bias for intentional action - We’re a start-up and we need to move fast. However we need to move fast through intentional action to make sure we’re able to deliver quickly and efficiently on what is most impactful to our collective success. We prioritize, plan, try things, and fail fast. We think about how what we do impacts other teams and communicate our progress - owning the whole solution from start to finish. If we move fast enough, we can make two or three mistakes, learn, and correct them before competitors even make their first decision.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously (but we do serious work) - Though we are solving an important problem which takes focus and a degree of seriousness, we don’t take ourselves too seriously while we do. We laugh, have fun, embrace uniqueness, and enjoy the journey. Together.

We trust each other and assume good intentions - We hire great team members and trust them to do their work. We’re transparent with data, news, and decisions - positive or negative - to empower team members to make well informed decisions. Showing up for each other fully means we celebrate each other’s accomplishments as well as give compassionate direct feedback when needed. We always default to assuming good intentions.

The role, in a nutshell:

As a high-energy, results-driven marketer with a deep understanding of the Public Sector landscape, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing a mix of strategic field and partner events, ABM programs, and integrated campaigns targeting the U.S. Federal Government and SLED.

In partnership with sales, alliances, and cross-functional marketing teams, you’ll be responsible for delivering strategies and programs that drive engagement, demand, and pipeline to meet and exceed quarterly and annual goals.

What will make you successful is having a strong background in demand generation, events, and account based marketing, with a proven ability to work and collaborate effectively across internal teams, external partners, and vendors.

It is essential that candidates have industry knowledge and experience in Public Sector marketing, a passion for helping FED and SLED teams achieve their revenue goals, and a track record of success in B2G marketing for cloud-based security solutions and technologies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and build Public Sector marketing strategy aligned to regional sales team objectives and priorities.
  • Develop and execute a balanced plan of ABM campaigns, field events, and partner co-marketing programs that drive net new pipeline creation and support deal acceleration.
  • Leverage a mix of channels and tactics including digital, content, and events to reach and engage high value contacts within target accounts.
  • Oversee and manage field events - from strategy and planning to logistics and execution - acting as primary point of contact for both internal and external teams.
  • Partner with internal teams to create messaging and content aligned to the needs and pain points of PubSec accounts and personas.
  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and agencies to create and activate marketing plans and programs.
  • Work closely with sales to align marketing efforts with the sales cycle, provide enablement resources, ensure buy-in, and facilitate seamless handoff of engaged contacts and leads.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to develop and optimize campaign strategies, and report out on program performance and ROI.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in B2G marketing to FED and SLED audiences.
  • Knowledge of security technologies, trends, and solutions, along with excitement for grasping new security concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with sales teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Co-marketing experience with distribution and technology partners.
  • Experience working with ABM platforms, marketing automation, CRM systems, and reporting tools including: 6sense, SFDC, Hubspot, Tableau, and Mutiny.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from data and inform decision-making.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously, both working independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Preferred Locations: East Coast, preferably DMV
