We are seeking a Financial Operations Analyst to join our finance team and work alongside DISCO’s Director of Financial Operations.

As the Financial Operations Analyst you will optimize cloud-related expenses, ensure accurate financial reporting, and provide strategic insights for informed decision-making. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that DISCO’s engineering team and finance teams work hand in hand to make good strategic decisions to optimize some of DISCO’s largest investments. Your expertise will play a vital role in shaping DISCO’s financial and technical decisions.

What You'll Do

• Cloud Cost Optimization and Management: Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud costs, including monitoring usage and spending, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending changes to service usage and pricing models.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Develop financial models to forecast cloud costs, prepare regular and ad-hoc financial reports, variance analyses, and dashboards to communicate expense trends and insights to stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, operations, technology teams, and cloud service providers to drive cost optimization initiatives, negotiate pricing and contracts, and ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing annual budgets and ongoing forecasting processes for cloud expenses, considering business growth and technological advancements.
• Strategic Planning and Advisory: Partner with engineering and other departments to understand their financial needs, provide insights for decision-making, and communicate complex financial concepts in a clear manner.
• ROI Analysis and Cost Modeling: Create ROI analysis for major investments and develop, manage, and optimize cost models for data, software, AI purchases, and SaaS product pricing.
• Cost Analysis and Reporting: Analyze cost data and trends, provide regular reporting, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Technology Purchase Optimization: Optimize technology purchasing by identifying cost drivers, tracking trends, suggesting innovative costing models, and ensuring costs are aligned with business goals.
• Cloud Usage and Consumption Monitoring: Monitor detailed cloud consumption, assist in reporting utilization to business owners, and conduct audits and analysis of cloud optimization efforts.
• Policy Development and Special Projects: Aid in the development of Cloud FinOps policy and guidelines, conduct variance analysis, and support various special projects related to cloud analysis.

Who you are

• Minimum of 3 years experience in Financial Operations with a focus on AWS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• You have an understanding of cloud services across major platforms. Experience with cloud service pricing models and cost optimization.
• You have a foundation in financial principles including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling. You enjoy time in Microsoft Excel.
• You are proficient in using data analysis tools (SQL, Python) and visualization platforms to derive actionable insights from complex data sets.
• You have practical experience in implementing FinOps practices, focusing on cost optimization and operational efficiency.
• You have exceptional communication skills and are capable of bridging the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
• You build strong relationships and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to achieve financial and operational goals.
• You have the ability to translate data into actionable insights thanks to your superior analytical skills supported by strong quantitative data analysis capabilities.
• You have a detail-oriented and problem-solving mindset, aiming to meet business needs while minimizing costs through creative solutions.
